Very conveniently located for seeing the sights of Avignon. Rooms were spacious. Breakfast was very good.
Appeared to be no way to avoid at least one flight of stairs between the parking lot and the exit on the place near the hotel which would have been a problem because of all of our luggage but we were able to find someone at the hotel to help with the luggage.
The location right on the central square and 50 metres from the Palace of the Popes was fantastic and we had a great (and large, well appointed) room. The staff were helpful and free internet was very good. All in all one of the best hotels we stayed at, it is three stars but better than many four star hotels.
Very few negatives on this one so a general comment (relevant to most hotels in Europe) why not include skim milk with breakfast?
I arrived to hotel at 1pm. The lady on reception was not polite. Around 30 mins she could not find my reservation, after I was waiting room around 40 mins .But chek in at this hotel at 12pm. Bad at all
Very convenient position to visit sites of ancient Avignon and enjoy local restaurants. Staff were efficient and courteous.
Air conditioning was not very effectiver in hot (26 degree) conditions. Room was quite cramped although bathroom was spacious.
It is really excellent located in the center of the old town. Good restaurants near by
The rooms are a bit tired in the old wing; finding the hotel by car is a nightmare; no parking (you should park the car some 300 m away-which in fact it is not a problem- but also have to carry the luggage over the medieval stone pavement of the main square)
The room was charming and the location wonderful. The staff, however, were outstanding. My highest praise for the flexible, sensitive, friendly, and responsive staff. I especially think the desk clerk, Johann, was terrific as he went out of his way numerous times to help us. The others, however, were wonderful as well. We got great advice and information from the staff, directions, assistance with little things and even great croissants and cafe au lait at a good price.
I was unhappy that the hotel did not give us the reserved twin bed non-smoking room we had reserved. The staff were very gracious though and, I suspect, gave us an upgraded room on a smoking floor but we did not smell smoke or find the room filmed with smoke pollution, so it worked out.
The standard of accommodation was very good for the star grading of the hotel. Staff were very friendly and readily offered assistance. Location is perfect - right on the Place de l'Horloge, next to the Palace and restaurants, shops.
Great location and a superb hotel in the heart of the city. So many sights to see, without getting the car out again.
This had perfect location. Very good facilities and a helpful smiling staff.
The front desk staff was excellent and the room was very comfortable. Excellent proximity to the sites and downtown. Breakfast good value. Room had a nice view
Our room was above the restaurant and it took a little time to get used to the food smells.
I like how close it was to the main tourist attractions in Avignon.
The Mercure Cite des Papes is old and had very basic facilities. Not what I was expecting, but good considering it was only a 3 star hotel.
Its setting was excellent for all of the sights and places of interest, and a very good range of restaurants in easy walking distance
Location was fabulous. Staff were very helpful. We had a problem with the air conditioning in our room and even though the hotel was very busy they happily changed our room.
Breakfast was very expensive...but other cheaper cafes for breakfast just outside the hotel. I booked this as a 4 star hotel but it had a sign that it was a 3 star which is what I would class it facility wise...but in saying that it was perfect location wise and was very clean and comfortable
Excellent location in the centre of the old city and 5 minutes walk to to the old papal fort. The staff are all multi-lingual and very helpful providing directions and assistance.
Level 6 has a generator above on the roof so avoid a room on this level due to the noise. The hotel is about to be renovated so improvements are scheduled but our room was comfortable on level 5 with a view of the square.
Location is just great yet the windows close well so noise not an issue (we were in a room at the back). Staff was very nice (which is something rare for me to say.
I am used to more upmarket hotels but you get what you pay for and at EUR100 for one night on a Saturday, i would say it is value for money.
